Why do we love this wine?
In the Clare Valley sub-region of Watervale, lies the world famous vineyard from which this classic wine is solely sourced and derives its name. Vines planted in 1973, into red, loamy topsoil over a deep limestone base create the perfect growing environment for premium Clare riesling. Austere, slatey and super-concentrated, this limey beauty carries a fine, chalky acidity from start to (extremely lengthy) finish. Four years aging has created a roundness and complexity in this wine whilst holding on to its natural zippy acidity. With careful cellaring, this wine will happily reward 20 years of aging, if not more. This is serious riz.
