Why do we love this wine?
2020 chardonnay from the Yarra Valley is getting hard to find. Yields were WAY down although quality was near an all-time high. Every skilled winemaker seemed to produce a stunner from this vintage. And we’ve got our hands on one such wine. It’s from a single vineyard planted almost 40 years ago near Yarra Glen. Fermentation took place entirely in French oak, 20% of which was new. After 10 months on lees, the wine was bottled up and ready to go. It’s textural and layered with notes of nectarine, lime hazelnut and flint. We’re absolutely loving this expression of the stellar (albeit smaller than average) 2020 Yarra chardonnay vintage.
What is a Black Market deal?
Black Market deals are only made possible if we don’t reveal the maker’s brand on site. The wines are the genuine article – absolutely no cleanskins or fake brands, just dangerously good value. You won’t find out what it is until it hits your doorstep, but you won’t regret it. Just keep it on the down low.
