This is what museum release wines are all about. In its youth, this was an extremely muscular and powerful wine. The intensity and structure have stood the test of time but the years have softened this gorgeous drop and allowed the fruit, oak, tannin and acid to get in line and start pulling in the same direction. We now have an harmonious, but never-the-less commanding, wine with considerable palate weight and silky mouthfeel punctuated by black fruit, cassis, violets and leather. There's a special kind of assertive elegance at play that will carry this wine through until at least 2030.
