Why do we love this wine?
'Nouveau' is a term usually reserved for Beaujolais but why? It simply refers to a style of wine that has undergone what's known as 'carbonic maceration', really basically, this just means that the grapes have been fermented in whole bunches, stems and all! The result is a light style of wine with slightly confected fruit and a very subtle earthiness that adds a whole new dimension. Now, as we see in this wine, the 'nouveau' style suits Yarra Valley pinot noir perfectly. We have a bright, light, red fruited wine with tremendous concentration and those special spiced characteristics you can only get from the Yarra.
