Why do we love this wine?
Single vineyard pinot noir from one of Marlborough’s first vineyards, going back almost 150 years. The region is best known for its sauvignon blanc, but ask any winemaker there what gets their heart racing and they’ll tell you it’s pinot noir. This one has an intensely layered nose of black cherry, plum, dark chocolate and cedar, which is backed up on the palate with more cherry and plum, fine tannins and graphitey minerality all wrapped up in a silky package. An amazingly complex wine that’ll make you wonder why pinot noir isn’t the most famous grape from Marlborough.
What is a Black Market deal?
Black Market deals are only made possible if we don’t reveal the maker’s brand on site. The wines are the genuine article – absolutely no cleanskins or fake brands, just dangerously good value. You won’t find out what it is until it hits your doorstep, but you won’t regret it. Just keep it on the down low.
