Why do we love this wine?

The 2021 vintage of this stunner received a whopping 97 points, and the 2022 vintage has gone one step further – a mesmerising 98 points from Suckling. Fresh blue fruit and raspberry coulis lay over a sappy woodiness. The tannin is fine but grippy enough to offer a little coarseness and a lot of structure. There is soy and umami, but this is all about the berries. The compact fruit core punches right up the middle of the palate. Electric Beaujolais that makes a damn fine case for gamay’s cellaring potential. Anita Kuhnel is a master at work, there’s no doubt about it

Be prepared to sink into a deep ocean trench where everything is dark and mysterious. Enormous nose of black fruit and bitter chocolate with a hint of very old balsamic vinegar. How can this much power and concentration feel this gentle on the full-bodied palate? The precision of the vinification has guided this masterpiece to a fabulous harmony. Gigantic finish with a wealth of black fruit, spice and a delicate savory line running through it. Matured in used oak barrels from Burgundy for just under a year. Drink or hold.
