These wines generally just don’t make it all the way to Australia, with small production and allocation-only supply: this is one grenache blend you don't want to sleep on.

Why do we love this wine?

We are truly blessed to have this wine in our shed. It’s from the tiny production, family-owned independent producer of David & Nadia, who are becoming known as one of the premier producers in the country. David & Nadia spent ten years preparing their old dry-farmed bush vines to be ready to produce a wine of this calibre, letting the vineyard do the talking by acting with minimal intervention in the winery. There’s grenache, syrah, carignan, cinsault and pinotage in the blend, all laid to rest in oak for a year. The wine is so complex, so layered and so compelling. Enjoy it while you can, wines like this don’t come around very often.

54% Grenache Noir, 31% Syrah, 13% Carignan, 1% Pinotage and 1% Cinsaut. Red and black berries, lavender, fynbos and white pepper on the nose while the palate is medium-bodied with lovely fruit purity, fresh acidity and powdery tannins – good structure and length, another convincing argument for the merits of this vintage.
