Why do we love this case?
Whisky and wine are a bit of a pigeon pair. They just work so well together. Red wine with dinner, then a whisky to finish off the evening. You know we love our Aussie reds here at the ‘Fo, so it makes perfect sense for us to dip our toes into the ‘spirit’ world with an Aussie whisky that’s been aged in shiraz barrels.
Enter Starward, a distillery amongst Australia’s upper echelon, and one that just happens to be around the corner from the Vinomofo office. It’s a tough job we do but no need to thank us.
Without further ado, allow us to present our forth Whisky and Wine pack! We’ve taken five bottles of the acclaimed Hewistson Rowland Flat Shiraz 2021 and that last little spot in the case? Well that belongs to Nova, Starward’s famous single malt whisky that’s matured in shiraz barrels.
We’re still Vinomofo through and through, but doesn’t Whiskymofo have a nice ring to it?

Tasting Notes
5x Hewitson Rowland Flat Shiraz 2021
Red — Shiraz
Barossa Valley — Australia
Rated a 9/10 vintage from the Halliday Wine Companion, 2021 in Barossa provided perfect conditions for high quality and yields. Gee, this producer has been popular with our mofo members by providing solid, true-to-style wines time and again. This is a bold shiraz. Deep, dark and rich. A partial whole bunch fermentation contributes to herbaceous aromatics alongside deep, fleshy blood plums. A good 14 months maturation in oak barrels frames the fruit over the palate with notes of chocolate and an exotic tobacco finish will linger. It’s a smart wine, ready to enjoy now and in ten years given the right cellaring.
You’d pay $50 full price.
