Why do we love this case?
We love it when the critics agree (and all of these wines have received top marks from the worlds best wine minds), but the real proof is in the broader crowd reception. Vivino allows us to gather the thoughts of the drinking many, rather than the critical few. And the consensus is well and truly in on this one: the people love it.

2x Maverick Twins Barrel Select Shiraz 2022
Red — Shiraz
Barossa Valley — Australia
If you close your eyes and picture a Barossa shiraz, odds are that this absolute ripper is sliding its way into your minds eye (or palate). Deep, ripe, dark and rich with impressive depth and fantastic concentration. A hug in glass.
Maverick Wines is a 5-star Halliday winery that takes a terroir driven approach to creating their product. In 2004, owner and winemaker, Ron Brown, acquired some of the best vineyards in the Barossa and set to work building a trusted brand with a focus on consistency of style and consistency of quality. Long story short, you know what you're going to get when you crack a bottle of Maverick, here's what we got from this beauty. A dense, highly concentrated wine with toasty French oak notes, warming spices and a silky smooth finish. Dark fruits run the show, as expected, and a velvety tannin structure and bright acidity hold this in good stead for, at very least, 10 years. This is just really really good Barossa shiraz.
You’d pay $50 full price.

2x Z Wines Hedley Shiraz 2022
Red — Shiraz
Barossa Valley — Australia
We have a lot to say about this wine, but nothing will quite compare to getting it in your glass and going for the first sip. You know how they say less is more? We’re just going to say it simply: there’s nothing you won’t love here.
Deep purple colour and even deeper flavour. The oak isn’t the commanding element, but it has a presence that cannot be ignored. You will never go wrong with a glass of shiraz like this. We will warn you, this wine comes with a side-effect - smugness. You won't be able to help yourself from gloating to all who share a glass about how cheap you got it for. Other than that, get stuck in, this is good gear.
You’d pay $35 full price.

2x Hollick Red Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon 2020
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
Coonawarra — Australia
Estate fruit from the famed Hollick vineyards in Coonawarra, this is cab sauv like Aussies know and love. Certainly, a little bit of age behind this number has helped to fill out the mid palate, making it rich and dense with threads of fennel and mint throughout. It's very hard not to enjoy this wine- and we're speaking from experience.
You’d pay $35 full price.

2x Gapsted Limited Release Sangiovese 2022
Red — Sangiovese
Heathcote — Australia
Famed for its Cambrian soil and sensational grape-growing conditions, Heathcote is earning a rep as more than just the home of lip-smackingly good shiraz, but pretty astonishing sangiovese, too. And from the very first sip this Limited Release will tell you precisely why. With depth, poise and balance plus a bouquet of wild berries, anise spice and bitter chocolate that sings, it flows along the palate to finish with savoury tannins. To add to the charm, this wine spent 18 months of maturation before release to enhance the palate and fuel the richness. Plenty of years left in the tank while being ripe and ready for ageing.
You’d pay $30 full price.
