Why do we love this case?
We’ve gathered some golden grape goodness from some of the best riesling academies to get your mind and palate ticking. These are compelling wines that champion fruit purity, piercing acidity, florality, mineral complexity, and so much more. There's a reason why if you ask any somm the world over 'what are your favourite grape varietals?' the answer will invariably include 'riesling.'
1x Kilikanoon Mort's Block Riesling 2022
White — Riesling
Clare Valley — Australia
We’re not always all about the numbers, but sometimes they speak for themselves. In this case: 100% hand picked, 100% Watervale, 96pts from James Halliday, and ageing potential beyond the next 10 years. Those, mofo, are pretty good numbers. You’ll get the citrus driven palate, sure. But what we have here goes well beyond that linear crisp style; it delves into green apple, honey, white blossoms and granitic minerality. This is a little waxy and weighted, it coats the palate aiding in a long and boisterous finish. We’re ticking all the boxes on the scorecard for this one.
You’d pay $25 full price.

1x Vickery Eden Valley Riesling 2022
White — Riesling
Eden Valley — Australia
When you get a wine this good, it’s hard to know where to start. The expressive single site fruit? The stellar 2022 vintage? The deep, complex palate? Its ability to continue ageing? We could go on, but we’ll keep it relatively simple. The reviews say it best, with words like ‘glorious’ and ‘exceptional’ painting the collective experience, it’s certainly not your average Eden Valley riesling. The combination of talented winemaking and complex fruit quality has built this wine of grace. Beyond the lemon and lime characters awaits so much more: orange blossoms, honeysuckle, marmalade and slate-like minerality will entertain your palate. We’re torn between drinking this now or watching its full ageing potential, but it’s certainly not going to disappoint either way.
You’d pay $24 full price.

1x Riversdale Estate Riesling 2022
White — Riesling
Tasmania — Australia
Cool climate precision that doesn’t skimp on stone fruit and citrus character, underscored by powerful minerality and riding on the back of racy, determined acidity. This is an icon-to-be. The amount of complexity astounds; orange blossom, apricot fuzz, slate, fresh ginger, quince and - at the risk of sounding like a used car salesman - much, much more. Drink now or cellar - either way you’re onto a winner.
You’d pay $38 full price.

1x Petaluma Hanlin Hill Riesling 2022
White — Riesling
Clare Valley — Australia
Petaluma needs no introduction. They’re simply icons of the South Australian wine scene. And we’d be insulting your intelligence if we explained why Clare Valley riesling is so damn good. So let’s just jump straight into the wine. Handpicked, whole bunch pressed, fermented, rested, filtered and bottled. Very straightforward with no need to get too clever. The fruit speaks for itself. Drop your nose into the glass and immediately experience citrus blossoms and spice. Have a sip and you’ll note lime, guava and a touch of salinity. The acid carries it all of course and this one will age well for at least a decade. Why settle for less than the best?
You’d pay $35 full price.

1x Crabtree Pomona Riesling 2023
White — Riesling
Clare Valley — Australia
Riesling is an under-rated chameleon, and this is a rare find. When the new vintage talks come up for the Crabtree Pomona riesling, I pounce on everything we can get. 2022 was heralded as being the vintage of a lifetime for many in South Australia, but the 2023 vintage in Clare managed to bump it out by a mile. We’re almost at the point of licking the bottle just to get every last drop. There’s hints of orange peel and jasmine underlying the preserved lemon and lime freshness. Heaps of that roaring acid. Fresh, dry, and perfect to quench your thirst on a warm day.
You’d pay $40 full price.

1x Patrick of Coonawarra 'Block 5' Aged Riesling 2015
White — Riesling
Coonawarra — Australia
Fewer whites age more gracefully than that of a riesling, with its naturally high acidity giving it the legs to run through the years. If you’re lucky enough to get your hands on this ‘15 rizza, you’ll be dragged into an alternate reality, a world where limes rule supreme with the loyal support of honey and hay characters. Aromatics of freshly toasted bread and an abundance of lemon butter dance over the palate. This rizza will be so much fun to drink over the next several years as you notice these characteristics continue to develop. Fresh mussels will go down a treat with this number, although it’s stunning just as it is.
You’d pay $45 full price.
