Why do we love this case?
We’ve gathered some golden grape goodness from some of the best riesling academies to get your mind and palate ticking. These are compelling wines that champion fruit purity, piercing acidity, florality, mineral complexity, and so much more. There's a reason why if you ask any somm the world over 'what are your favourite grape varietals?' the answer will invariably include 'riesling.'
1x Becker Landgraf J2 Trocken Riesling 2021
White — Riesling
Germany — Germany
German riesling is one of the great wonders of the wine world. There is nothin on the planet that boasts as much focus, as much fruit purity, and as much scintillating acidity. This is a dry style (labeled as such with the German word 'Trocken') with concentrated citrus flavours and deeply set mineral complexity. Fair warning for the uninitiated, though; (and I speak here from experience) when it comes to German riesling you are at risk of becoming a complete fanatic.
You’d pay $45 full price.

1x Crabtree Pomona Riesling 2023
White — Riesling
Clare Valley — Australia
Riesling is an under-rated chameleon, and this is a rare find. When the new vintage talks come up for the Crabtree Pomona riesling, I pounce on everything we can get. 2022 was heralded as being the vintage of a lifetime for many in South Australia, but the 2023 vintage in Clare managed to bump it out by a mile. We’re almost at the point of licking the bottle just to get every last drop. There’s hints of orange peel and jasmine underlying the preserved lemon and lime freshness. Heaps of that roaring acid. Fresh, dry, and perfect to quench your thirst on a warm day.
You’d pay $40 full price.

1x Petaluma Hanlin Hill Riesling 2022
White — Riesling
Clare Valley — Australia
Petaluma needs no introduction. They’re simply icons of the South Australian wine scene. And we’d be insulting your intelligence if we explained why Clare Valley riesling is so damn good. So let’s just jump straight into the wine. Handpicked, whole bunch pressed, fermented, rested, filtered and bottled. Very straightforward with no need to get too clever. The fruit speaks for itself. Drop your nose into the glass and immediately experience citrus blossoms and spice. Have a sip and you’ll note lime, guava and a touch of salinity. The acid carries it all of course and this one will age well for at least a decade. Why settle for less than the best?

1x Ferngrove Wines Orchid Cossack Riesling 2022
White — Riesling
Frankland River — Australia
An absolute treat. Riesling is my favourite varietal, so I'm picky. But I pick this one over and over again. Penetrating acidity gives way to pulpy sone fruit; peach fuzz and apricot. Grapefruit and whole lemon citrus drive the wine. 'Coolness' has been considered at every turn (the temperature kind, not the Fonz kind); the wine is picked in the early morning to guarantee the grapes are at their coolest, and the wine is fermented slowly at a low temperature to ensure freshness and brightness. The result is pure fruit expression that perfectly captures the magnificence of the Franklin River growing region.

1x B Minor Riesling 2022
White — Riesling
Nagambie Lakes — Australia
The winemaker behind this riesling has experience running the show at the crème de la crème of Victoria’s best wineries (and numerous stints in France). This riesling is an intense yet pure expression of place from 40+ year-old vines. Leaping with floral aromatics, think ginger and jasmine, with a crunchy apple flavour fleshing out into the riper pineapple spectrum. The acidity is mouthwatering but offers a perfectly balanced riesling frame - the basis for subtle yet persistent flavours. Pure perfection.
You’d pay $30 full price.

1x Pikes 'Traditionale' Riesling 2022
White — Riesling
Clare Valley — Australia
Your next riesling need not be introduced. This is Pikes, one of the most adored Clare Valley wineries- and for good reason. Pikes have been a household name since their days manufacturing beer and soft drinks, but have since captivated hearts with phenomenal wines true to the unique and famed terroir of the Clare Valley. I'll never forget sipping on the fresh 2022 vintage with Jamie Pike at the Quarry Hill Lookout watching over Polish Hill River. This is a wine that commands a sensational moment, although the argument could be had that this wine is what makes those moments sensational. Lemon-lime pithiness, refreshing mineral core, and a humming note of white blossoms and jasmine sing a beautiful harmony. If you’re looking for the best riesling of Clare, notice us gently nudge this one your way.
You’d pay $27 full price.
