2x Russell & Suitor Adelaide Hills Pinot Noir 2024
Red — Pinot Noir
Adelaide Hills — Australia
If you talk to a winemaker, every vintage is "hard going" or "challenging". If you talk to the marketing manager of a winery, every vintage is "perfect" or "amazing". It's a rare and special year on which the two can agree. 2024, as it turns out, is a rare and special year for the Adelaide Hills. This wine shows the great concentration of fruit and underlying, dare we say it, Burgundy-esque earthiness that the Hills can impart in those great years. A wine that you're actually meant to enjoy drinking - we have been. When a Tasmanian winery *chooses* to make pinot noir from the Hills, you know they've got their hands on some good fruit. This absolutely leaps out of the glass, right at you! Red berries and strawberries, silky subtle tannins and that little bit of earthiness that the Hills is known for. Yummers.
You’d pay $45 full price.

2x Stanley Estate Stanrock Pinot Noir 2023
Red — Pinot Noir
Marlborough — New Zealand
A fruit-forward, medium-bodied style (by NZ standards), this wine serves as an oft-needed bridge between Australian and Kiwi pinot noir styles. Earthy and gutsy, for those that look for that, pristine and precise, for those that don't. Versatile and vivacious.
Marlborough pinot is a little bit different from some of the Central Otago brutes that we've dealt with in the past. This wine is certainly gutsy, there's no doubt about that but there's a clean, fresh feeling to the red and black fruit that'll keep rusted-on Aussie pinot drinkers more than happy. A silky mouthfeel with vibrant acid and soft tannins, this is an absolute steal.
You’d pay $35 full price.

2x Eminence Novella Pinot Noir 2023
Red — Pinot Noir
Whitlands — Australia
Victoria's High Country produces some of the states best produce, wine inclusive. For the foodies among you, this luscious alpine area - bordering Beechworth is a 'must visit.' For those less inclined to travel, take trip there through this bright beauty!
This wine is enormous fun - light, bright, sappy, floral, confected, a little bunch. There is complexity for days. The fruit weight is complete and satisfying and, while it remains light bodied (as pinot classically and varietally should) it feels complete and satisfying on the palate. There is bricky, savoury back palate nuance which puts a nice little bow on the mid-palate fruit, punctuating it and acting as a counterpoint to the pep of the acidity. It feels – and is – expertly crafted at every step.
You’d pay $35 full price.

2x Rob Dolan Wines Pinot Noir 2023
Red — Pinot Noir
Victoria — Australia
You'll know Rob Dolan Wines for their reputation for excellence. They've been making some of the most iconic wines of the Yarra Valley and broader Victorian region for decades. This is, of course, no exception to that spirit of excellence; fresh red raspberries and pulpy cherry meat fine, slippery tannin structure. There is sappy acidity that frames the enduring finish. A brilliantly delivered wine from a master of their craft.
You’d pay $35 full price.

2x Twin Valleys Pinot Noir 2021
Red — Pinot Noir
Alpine & King Valleys — Australia
The Twin Valleys pinot noir grabs all that Alpine and King Valley freshness and bottles it up for us to enjoy elsewhere. The lightness and the cool, bright acid line that cuts through this wine brings a satisfying bit of energy to whoever’s lucky enough to have it in their cup (me, in this instance). Winter strawberry and under ripe raspberry on the palate immediately, but there is a bit of darker, richer fruit tucked in behind it. Mulberry and bramble, and a bit of vanillin oak presence, too. A bit of whole bunch lends a slippery, suppleness to the mouthfeel and ties the wine together beautifully. A fine boned, prickly finish that lasts and lasts.
You’d pay $31 full price.

2x Sorby Adams Mytikas Pinot Noir 2022
Red — Pinot Noir
Adelaide — Australia
This satisfying little pinot takes its name from the peak of Mount Olympus in Athens, where the Adelaide GI grape-grower George’s family originated - Mytikas. Funnily enough, it also means "nose", we reckon that's pretty fitting given the fragrant, vibrant style that the wines are made in. Subtle French oak sets the stage for a fresh, bright pinot displaying plum, red cherry and warming spice. The finish is as long as it is satisfying. You could drink this pinot any time, anywhere and with any one. Super yummy.
You’d pay $30 full price.
