2x Twin Valleys Reserve Pinot Noir 2023
Red — Pinot Noir
Victoria — Australia
This is a really smart little wine. A lot of red fruit on display, some rich, ripe raspberry and strawberries lead into more densely laden cranberry and red cherry. The tannin is fine grain and delicate - pretty but textural and providing nice, subtle grip. While this is certifiable cool climate, it doesn't want for weight. The palate is satisfying and broad with classic cool climate acidity giving it focus and drive through a fine boned, prickly finish that lasts and lasts.

2x Mt Bera Wild & Free Pinot Noir 2021
Red — Pinot Noir
Adelaide Hills — Australia
From a boutique producer out of the ever-impressive Adelaide Hills comes a pinot noir bursting with character and charisma. This one’s for the lovers of frivolousness - a cheeky drop, with love to spare. The bountiful bouquet of bright red fruits and savoury, elegant spice meets a soft, supple palate with just enough complexity to keep you coming back without being so much that it takes up too much time in your glass!

2x Rob Dolan Wines Pinot Noir 2023
Red — Pinot Noir
Victoria — Australia
You'll know Rob Dolan Wines for their reputation for excellence. They've been making some of the most iconic wines of the Yarra Valley and broader Victorian region for decades. This is, of course, no exception to that spirit of excellence; fresh red raspberries and pulpy cherry meat fine, slippery tannin structure. There is sappy acidity that frames the enduring finish. A brilliantly delivered wine from a master of their craft.

2x Julien Schaal Mountain Vineyards Pinot Noir 2022
Red — Pinot Noir
South Africa — South Africa
We haven’t historically sourced a lot of pinot noir from South Africa. So if we’re going to do so, it better be good. And who better to bring us a stunner than Julien Schaal, the wine virtuoso making incredible stuff in both Alsace and South Africa? This pinot comes from a vineyard in Elgin, the coolest viticultural area in South Africa. Red clay, sea breezes and high altitude combine to provide complexity, nuance and texture to the juice. Bright crimson in colour with a delicate nose of earthy aromas and red berries, this pinot hits the palate with savoury notes and just a touch of oak. If you didn’t already know that South Africa has some incredible examples of this prized variety, then consider this your notice.

2x Woodside Park Estate Pinot Noir 2023
Red — Pinot Noir
Adelaide Hills — Australia
Everyone needs a wine like this in the cellar. A people pleasing, versatile wine that you can open at any time of day or night and know exactly what you're going to get. In this case, here's what you're going to get: Bright, lifted fruit ranging from fresh red currants all the way to black cherries and everything in between. There's a subtle spice and earthiness that the Adelaide Hills tends to bring out in wines and a silky mouthfeel from time spent in french oak. It's not an overly complex wine but why should it be? It's delicious just how it is and sometimes you just want to put something yummy in your glass without having to do a Somm exam. This is the kind of wine that's going to come in very handy one day, when you're stuck in a booze-less pickle, reach for the Woodside.

2x Austin's Wines 6ft6 Pinot Noir 2024
Red — Pinot Noir
Geelong — Australia
Geelong is, for me, the best pinot noir producing region outside of Burgundy. Not the USA's Oregon, not New Zealand's Central Otago - little old Geelong on Victoria's south coast.
Fresh and inviting, this will give a lot with just a little swirl in the glass. Raspberry coulis, winter strawberry, some sweet spice, fennel, thistle. The complexity far outpaces its price tag. The wine is structured without sacrificing finesse, which means it's pretty without being thin or wussy. This is dangerous value at $15 and worth stocking up because we don't anticipate we'll be able to hang onto it too for long.
