Believe it or not, we try A LOT of wine from South Australia. We've tried hundreds, if not thousands, of SA reds over the last few months - it's a horrible job but someone's gotta do it - and these are the picks of the bunch...

Tried, tested and adored, these are the stand-outs. These are the 6 wines that kept rising the top, well-known names and well-awarded wines (some up at 97pts+), all together in one lovely box of happiness. This is the kind of mixed case that we love putting together, all killer, no filler - a stunning array of South Australia's best export.

Included in this case:

1x Clarendon Hills Piggott Range Shiraz 2013

1x Haselgrove 'The Cruth' Shiraz 2019

Red — Shiraz

McLaren Vale — Australia

Have we gotten your attention? Good, because you haven’t and won’t ever see a deal like this ever again. If you can’t afford to spend $150 on a bottle of McLaren Vale Shiraz (and honestly, there are very few who can), this is your moment to shine. This flagship shiraz is bold, finessed, and packed with layers of flavour. Scoring an outstanding 97 points, this is an amazing Shiraz which offers bright, spiced berries, bitter chocolate and rich, succulent plums on the nose and palate. Paired with beautifully integrated oak and stunning, rippling tannins this is hands down one of the best wines we’ve ever offered and easily one of the best deals we’ve ever run. The votes are in and it’s unanimous - if you're not picking up a case of this for your cellar then you're missing out on the deal of a lifetime.

You’d pay $170 full price.

1x Hutton Vale Farm Shiraz 2014

Red — Shiraz

Eden Valley — Australia

These vines are sandwiched directly between the Mt Edelstone and Hill of Grace vineyards, it's not surprise it's one of Barossa's genuine icons. Dense, dark-fruited, rich and complex, this is aged Australian wine in its purest form. Fantastic wine.
This isn't a wine that has sat in the cellar in the hope of turning into something special. Museum releases are a bit different. This was built to age, stored professionally, cared for and diligently tasted along its journey until the optimum time for release, and that brings us to now. Plummy and spicy on the nose with herbal undertones and hints of pepper. The palate is completely indulgent; rich, concentrated red and black fruits, a slight earthiness (typical of the vineyard) and bright white pepper complimented by cedary oak and mouth-coating tannins that linger through the long, spiced plum, Christmas cake-like finish. Iconic vines, iconic winemaker, iconic wine.

You’d pay $135 full price.

1x Hewitson Strawberry Hill Barossa Shiraz 2022

Red — Shiraz

Barossa Valley — Australia

This wine will exceed your expectations; with layers of flavourful complexity, you’ll discover something new with every sip. The wine opens with an array of forest fruits of blackcurrant, blackberry and ripened plums. Non fruit characteristics are already shining through, especially over the palate where you’ll be treated to notes of dark chocolate, fresh coffee bean and dustings of cacao. The tannins are fine grained. The length on the finish just keeps going and the 15 months this shiraz spent in French oak prior to bottling ensures you can cellar this and revel in its maturity for years to come.

You’d pay $150 full price.

1x St Hallet Sacred Ground Shiraz 2022

Red — Shiraz

Barossa — Australia

Moody, dark, swirling black fruits sit right at the core of this quintessentially Barossan beast. A smattering of red and blue fruits provide freshness and a little lift to what is otherwise very serious business.
There is no mistaking a St Hallet classic - when it comes to shiraz, and when it comes to Barossa, they don't muck about. The Sacred Ground is an old favourite among the 'big and bold' faithful, and this iteration is no departure from that well earned reputation. Rich, ripe, chocolate, earthy and opulent. Little hints of cedar and tobacco sit deftly around determined, full throttle fruit density. St Hallet at their best - unashamedly broad and imposing while remaining stylish, complex, and relinquishing no ground when it comes to sophistication.

You’d pay $95 full price.

1x Jericho Ancient Stones Shiraz 2022

Red — Shiraz

McLaren Vale — Australia

Hand-harvested from the best two rows of the oldest shiraz vineyard available to this classy producer, the fruit from these old vines is treated with the respect it deserves. Wild yeast ferment and held on skins for 12 months in open top (new) French oak barrels, then pressed and aged for three months longer in yet more oak. This is not a shy wine, big, oaky, ripe and bright. There's a lot of potential for a very long life in the cellar but as a youthful wine there is still plenty on offer. Red fruits, supple tannin, vibrant acid and beautiful lingering spice through the finish, a good decant is recommended (but not compulsory). A special wine for a special occasion - serious McLaren Vale fans should NOT miss this chance.

You’d pay $80 full price.
