2x Thistledown Wild & Wilder 'The Sophisticat' Sauvignon Blanc 2021
White — Sauvignon Blanc
Adelaide Hills — Australia
The Adelaide Hills is the ideal place to grow sauvignon blanc, with high slopes and cool nights. Pair that with a producer who REALLY know what they’re doing (we’re talking a Five Red Star rating from Halliday) and you can’t go wrong. This sauv is clean, light and lively, with all of the gooseberry, floral life and citrus tingles that make the style famous. A refreshing vino typical of Adelaide Hills.
You’d pay $22 full price.

2x Gapsted Limited Release Pinot Grigio 2022
White — Pinot Grigio
King Valley — Australia
The Alpine and King Valleys are national leaders for producing delicious grigio. It’s likely thanks to all the Italian influence up there. There’s more Italian surnames floating around those parts than in The Godfather. So really, you’d expect them to know what they’re doing with pinot grigio.
This’ll keep you cool and refreshed on the hottest of days. It’ll please everyone from Auntie Karen to your grigio-guzzling bestie. Don’t turn your nose up at a great wine doing great work, even if it is as ludicrously low priced as this. Trust in this great value vino. It’ll repay you in flavour, every damn day.
You’d pay $25 full price.

2x M. Chapoutier Tournon Mathilda Viognier Marsanne 2015
White — Viognier
Victoria — Australia
A classic Rhône-style white blend made right here in Australia. Aged on lees in stainless steel, the wine is pure of fruit but laden with texture and tension. You’ll find stone fruit, minerality and even a bit of viscosity in this one. This is the kind of wine that builds in confidence with some time in bottle, so it’s a pretty big deal to have this one land with seven years to show. Pretty neat little number for your weeknight’s desires.
You’d pay $20 full price.

2x Fenetre Lavande Pinot Gris 2022
White — Pinot Gris
South Australia — Australia
Steely and tart south Aussie gris. Vibrant stone fruit and citrus on the back of bristling acidity. Gris sometimes gets relegated to the warmer months alone, and while it’s well and truly at home under the brolly at the beach or in the back yard, there’s much more this wine offers. This has zesty lemon and green apple at its core, but there is plushness and texture flanking that freshness. Beautifully balanced and multifaceted, this versatile gris will hit the spot year-round.
You’d pay $25 full price.

2x Erin Grace Chardonnay 2022
White — Chardonnay
Adelaide Hills — Australia
I have to say, I think this could possibly be the best value chardy I have ever tried. I mean it. The best. Ever. That’s not something you say lightly, and I certainly didn’t feel anything wishy-washy about this when I had my first taste. Premium Adelaide Hills fruit hits like no other, and when you pay sub twelve bucks a bottle for it, I think we’re talking about true love. Move over first boyfriend, you’ll be remembering the first dance with this wine for a long time. Primarily this is driven by those citrus and melon notes, there’s a little touch of pineapple and wet stones to satisfy some roundness. You literally could not ask for any more.
You’d pay $25 full price.

2x Fox Gordon Princess Fiano 2019
White — Fiano
Adelaide Hills — Australia
Fiano is getting a bit of a name for itself, and this is one of the makers helping it do so. It tends to be fine-boned and fresh with citrus and fresh herbs featuring front and centre. Sometimes it can go a bit far into the pithy side of citrus, but good producers wrangle fiano’s potential dark side and create some very fine, delicate white wine. A few years to mellow in bottle has certainly given this one some mighty character, bringing out the ripe, floral characters tenfold. What a ripper.
You’d pay $25 full price.
