2x Farmer's Leap Pillar Box Red 2021
Red — Shiraz Blend
Padthaway — Australia
Wow - this is a knockout. At the price this wine commands, you literally could not find anything better. We try a lot of wines here, and to say that this one was instantly outstanding is barely touching on how impressed we were. Incredible aromatics meet you on the nose, a tribute to the cab sauv that makes up a quarter of the blend. Shiraz shines with a bountiful expression of plum, blackberry and preserved cherries - the good ones that you save for your Sunday roast. Give us an hour to talk about this wine, and we’d do so without skipping a beat.
You’d pay $22 full price.

2x Thousand Candles Gathering Field Red Blend 2020
Red — Red Blend
Australia — Australia
Classic Bordeaux varietals, lead by cab sauv. A meaty, powerful wine that exudes confidence right at the jump. Black and blue fruits swirl in the glass. There's cool climate pepper that meets sweet spice and savoury herbaceous moreish-ness. Malbec and merlot chime in late with some palate generosity and plump, fresh fruit - this one's a winner, no doubt about it.
You’d pay $35 full price.

2x Thistledown Wild & Wilder 'Pugilist' Cabernet Sauvignon 2022
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
Langhorne Creek — Australia
This pan-South Aussie producer is fast becoming a mofo favourite across their delicious red and white wines. They seek out parcels of quality grapes in Barossa, McLaren and in this case the maritime region of Langhorne Creek. Their wines are made to a high-standard across the range and are reliably delicious. This cabernet shows off a perfumed nose of flowers, juicy plums and dried herbs, followed by a medium-bodied, ripe and textured palate. There’s a gentle earthiness in the wine that is wrapped in blackberries and a lingering olive tapenade finish.
You’d pay $22 full price.

2x Brave New Wine El Rojo Tempranillo Blend 2021
Red — Shiraz
Frankland River — Australia
This is a wine crafted for pure enjoyment. Brave New Wine have been making a lot of noise out west over the last couple of years with their exciting approach to hands off winemaking. That’s not to say they’re not classically made, mind you, just that they hero the fruits of the vineyard above all else. This celebrates the lighter red fruits of the Franklin River – cherries, raspberries, strawberries at the fore. There is some cola and spice layered on, too, adding an extra dimension. This is a very friendly, easy going red built for carefree consumption.
You’d pay $34 full price.

2x Koonowla Reverence Shiraz 2020
Red — Shiraz
Clare Valley — Australia
Dark and brooding, inky in the glass. Black cherry and bramble into plums and blueberries - a quintessentially Clare iteration of South Aussie shiraz; stylish yet big. Tobacco and earth aromatics are on show, too, giving the wine some genuine complexity. There's length for days - powerful fruit flavours and tannin structure through the finish, marked by bright acidity. This is a goer, for sure - a truly versatile wine with plenty to love about it.
You’d pay $32 full price.

2x Hesketh Regional Selections Grenache 2020
Red — Grenache
Barossa — Australia
We couldn't be more excited about the rise and rise of grenache in Australia. A bottle in every pantry, and on every table. This is plummy and ripe with blueberries and raspberries in the mix. The wine has enough acid to wrap that parcel of juicy fruit up and deliver it neatly through a lone, powerful finish.
You’d pay $25 full price.
