Why do we love this case?

Here, we bring you the best of the best. These are the wines that our producers have loved so dearly that they've kept a few behind at the cellar for their future selves (and, some lucky customers who might get the winemakers on a good day). We've had to do some really sweet talking, a little bit of begging, and a lot of string-pulling to curate this case. Presenting: the Aged. Shiraz. Selection. It feels good to say it, and even better to drink it.

Included in this case:

1x Archery Road Bullseye Shiraz 2015

Red — Shiraz

Barossa Valley — Australia

Here is one show-stopping, chart-topping shiraz that’s ready and roaring. While this is drinking perfectly now, do be warned - it’s quite the blockbuster! Handcrafted from the finest grapes of their Barossa vineyard, this does what we look for the most in these wines; rich, full-bodied and full of aromatic lift. Moroccan spices and dense black fruits such as blackberries and black cherry. All of course handled beautifully with high quality oak and supporting fine tannins. A blockbuster with a really great plot.

You’d pay $150 full price.

1x d'Arenberg The Pickwickian Brobdignagian Shiraz 2013

Red — Shiraz

McLaren Vale — Australia

We're pretty sure you would have heard of d'Arenberg. Perhaps the most iconic of McLaren Vale producers. But not everyone would know their exclusive cellar door range, the stuff they save for their most loyal customers. Single vineyard expressions, kept nicely in their cellar for safe keeping until the time is right. Juicy and yet earthy, it’s a show-stopping wine. Almost a decade of cellaring will leave an impression on your palate, a ripe and earthy undertone will guide your experience from start to finish. With impressive layers of dark berry fruits, natural acidity and rustic tannins. There’s only so much we could get our hands on, making this all the more special.

You’d pay $105 full price.

1x First Drop Fat of the Land Greenock Shiraz 2016

Red — Shiraz

Barossa — Australia

John Retsas of First Drop Wines treats shiraz like royalty. That's what you want from a Barossa producer after all, but it doesn't go without saying. This single vineyard series is all about showcasing the diversity and intrigue in Barossa's many sub-regions. Sitting and tasting all of these wines side-by-side, its phenomenal to see that marked differences in the vineyards. Nuances of black olive and vegemite, blood plum and cocoa are just some of the reasons we've gone bonkers about this wine. You're lucky to be getting it at the start of its peak drinking window, which luckily will extend for many years still to come.

You’d pay $130 full price.

1x Geoff Merrill Pimpala Vineyards Shiraz 2017

Red — Shiraz

McLaren Vale — Australia

Not to be confused with Geoff Merrill’s ‘Pimpala Road’ range, these Pimpala Vineyard wines are careful barrel selections from Geoff’s reserve range. This has spent no less than 20 months in French and American oak barrels, plus over three years in the cellar to let all its powerful fruit and decadent oak flavour all meld together. It’s like liquid black chocolate cake, with the Vale’s dark chocolate and heady spice flavours oozing head-on into dark cherry, blackcurrant leaf and roasted coconut. We’re always happy to see Geoff’s wines in the warehouse, and even happier to see them in our glass.

You’d pay $65 full price.

1x Lone Tree Estate Shiraz 2016

Red — Shiraz

Langhorne Creek — Australia

A black fruited masterpiece - this is Langhorne creek up and down. Black berries and dark, ripe cherry sit centre stage, with a smokey, tobacco, spiced accents speak to age and good quality oak. This is one of those wines that typifies the Australian offering - brash and bold and brimming with fruit, but not at the cost of sophistication and finesse. The bit of cellar time has allowed the wine to find harmony in the glass; the acid, tannin, and fruit profile are in perfect step. In a great spot to drink now, but a bit left in the tank for those who want to see those earth and spice tones really come to the fore. If you're looking for quinteseential Langhorne, look no further.

You’d pay $65 full price.

1x Sieger Estate Frederick BLK 777 Shiraz 2017

Red — Shiraz

Barossa Valley — Australia

From the fertile plains of Barossa’s rich valley floor comes a grape of great fame. It’s illustrious deep colour could mesmerise any punter, and it’s aromas are sure to enchant even those who try to abstain it. It’s the star of the show: shiraz. Taking no prisoners on its mission to be the biggest and the best - there’s chocolate interlaced with stewed plums and a hint of dried figs. A dance of redcurrant across the mid palate dares to drive freshness home for the long, slow burning finish. Both the beauty and the beast in the glass, you’ll be enchanted all the way through.

You’d pay $50 full price.
