1x St Johns Brook Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2019
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
Margaret River — Australia
This is premium cabernet that's playing all the hits; cassis, black cherry, bramble, pink and purple flowers and a medicinal quality to boot. The fruit is dense and driving and sitting smack dab in the centre of the wine. Those fruit characteristics are wrapped neatly in cedar and tree bark notes. Uber stylish, eternally elegant - St Johns Brook know how to do premo cab sauv, and we're hoping we see a lot more of their wines coming through our doors (because we've very nearly drunk them all to ourselves).
You’d pay $60 full price.

1x Reschke RSR Cabernet Sauvignon 2015
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
Coonawarra — Australia
We’ve now seen many a ripper vintage of this baby. It’s one deal that flies out the door and into your kitchen. For those in the know, you're never disappointed once you pull the cork. A cellar release with a lucky 8 years of evolution - give it a burl, and you’ll see that it is only starting to touch its prime drinking window. Usually exclusive to the wine producer’s database, this trickles out to us only when we are lucky, somehow our charming wine buyers have managed to get on that lucky list.
Boisterous tannins that have mellowed to a brooding, silky palate, with chunky fruit joined by herbaceous and somewhat meaty notes. There’s still classic cabernet cassis and blackberry, which is accompanied by rosemary, thyme and a long and savoury finish. Be quick, mofo - you too should be so lucky!
You’d pay $75 full price.

1x Corryton Burge Brigadier Cabernet Sauvignon 2019
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
Barossa — Australia
Blackberry, mocha, mint, fennel, blackcurrant leaf, cedar, cigar box, red currant, coffee, burnt sugar - there's a lot going on here. Brilliant cabernet. The richness of the palate drives the wine, but the fruit is wrapped up tightly in the brightness of the acid. A balanced and persistent finish completes the wine. This is seriously complex and seriously good.
You’d pay $55 full price.

1x Penley Estate Black Bull Cabernet Sauvignon 2021
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
Coonawarra — Australia
Guess who’s back and ready to go? One of our favourite Coonawarra producers, Penley Estate, has done the hard work to bring back this mofo fave drop. Aptly named, this robust cabernet packs a punch with strong, flavourful and classic Coonawarra characteristics we’ve all come to love and enjoy. Dark fruits of the black forest abound and surround the recogniseable cedary, minty core; while framed with superb mineral tannins that allow for youthful drinking while still earning a nook in your cellar over the next 10+ years.
You’d pay $50 full price.

1x Jim Brand Wines The Pursuit Cabernet Sauvignon 2020
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
Coonawarra — Australia
An extroverted red which refuses to back down, this wine is fragrant with dark forest fruits seducing the nose, while traces of mint and cedar oak add a twist of regional character. A torrent of ripe plum, dark berry and blackcurrant make their presence known on the palate; clearly dominating but steering clear of overwhelming the tastebuds. The finish is superb with great length and a dry finale. An outstanding example of how to balance power with restraint, and succeed - this magnificent cab shows others how it’s done.
You’d pay $50 full price.

1x Carillion Stonefields Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2018
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
Wrattonbully — Australia
Wrattonbully brings the goods when it comes to cabernet. It’s that red clay and loam soil that’s the key. We’ve got our hands on a single vineyard example that’s been given heaps of love by the legends at Carillion. Despite its medium body, it’s quite ripe with flavours of cassis and blackberry. Low cropping levels and small berries have led to great concentration and some time in French oak has given the wine a nice spicy backbone and fine tannins.
You’d pay $50 full price.
