Dark and brooding, inky in the glass. Black cherry and bramble into plums and blueberries - a quintessentially Clare iteration of South Aussie shiraz; stylish yet big. Tobacco and earth aromatics are on show, too, giving the wine some genuine complexity. There's length for days - powerful fruit flavours and tannin structure through the finish, marked by bright acidity. This is a goer, for sure - a truly versatile wine with plenty to love about it.

This producer has to be one of the most consistently excellent wineries in McLaren Vale. Many of their wines get scores in the high-90s year after year and we reckon this wine may have the same fate, so were happy to get in before the reviews. The flavour’s there and the points will come. This one is McLaren Vale to a tee with all the dark, ripe berries, chocolate and spice you could want. It’s full-bodied and absolutely delightful. Trust us, mofo, this stuff is awesome.

This balanced Adelaide Hills tempranillo was born out of some seriously small plantings and nurtured by a winemaker of a seriously impressive pedigree. Packed full of sweet-sour cherries and ripe plums, with hints of chocolate and clove, this is a brilliant expression of tempranillo, and with a bit of age on it to boot!

This is a wonderfully elegant, perfumed wine full of clean, crisp fruit, and minerality, with a loooong dry finish.

Apricots and apricot yoghurt offer ripeness, while piercing green and red apple freshness drive the wine. A mineral baseline adds a welcome dimension, rounding out what is a delicious, High Country gris.

Italy’s leading grape varieties have an established home in the King Valley, including the ever-popular pinot grigio. This example of the grape is bright with citrus and pear on the nose and freshness from the nose to the palate with a crisp, mineral finish. When given more time to develop in the glass, the wine shares a greater depth to its expression. Ripe red apple, nashi pear, and hints of sherbet on the nose. From a weekend BBQ to a plate of spaghetti marinara over candlelight, it’s a flexible food wine that is sure to please.
