Why do we love this case?
We’ve been debating this one for years, which region is making the best of the bold when it comes to famous Aussie shiraz? In one corner, we have the classy Clare Valley, where fruit speaks true and pure. Maybe it’ll be where you can find the world’s oldest shiraz vines, in the beautiful Barossa? Perhaps, you might find that the mighty McLaren Vale is simply unrivalled with its striking styles. Ding ding ding, the battle begins!
Each case includes FOUR bottles of the following:
4x Pikes Settler's Cottage Shiraz 2019
Red — Shiraz
Clare Valley — Australia
If you were hanging out in South Australia in the 1880’s, you’d know Pikes for their beers. Fast forward 100 years and and several generations and the Pike family has firmly established themselves as one of the premier wine producers in the Clare Valley. Hops and grapevines, a rather abstract take on the tradition family tree. Their Settler’s Cottage shiraz speaks loudly of the Clare style; bracingly fresh, with aromas turned up to full volume and strikingly fine tannins. This is savoury, sumptuous superb shiraz.

4x Ulithorne Familia Shiraz 2021
Red — Shiraz
McLaren Vale — Australia
McLaren Vale shiraz, yes, but lithe and vibrant. A more medium-bodied feel leaves room for the lively fruit flavours to sing, unshackled from big, beefy, old-school styles. Classic brambly goodness skates on a fresh sheet of acidity, with just enough grippy tannin to keep it grounded. Miraculously food-friendly, there’s all the ingredients here for an infamous dinner party red. The kind you and your mates are liable to enjoy a wee bit too much of an evening.
Three previous vintages of this wine garnered an applause-worthy 95 points from Mr. Halliday himself. We got in quick with the release of this vintage, but expect similar accolades to be awarded soon enough.

4x Brothers At War Pendee Farm Shiraz 2021
Red — Shiraz
Barossa Valley — Australia
This isn’t our first rodeo with this particular house of Barossa legends. However, this is the first of which we snapped up every bottle. This is a special cuvée, an homage to the vineyard that represents the backbone of this particular winery: old vine Barossa shiraz. It’s hard working, relentlessly giving, and concentrates all its goodness in small, powerful doses. If you’re like us, you can taste Barossa shiraz when you hear it mentioned, but this is not like the rest. Think ripe yet firm, impressive yet restrained, loud yet humble. Begging to be drunk and enjoyed now or for a number of years to come.
You’d pay $50 full price.
