Why do we love this case?

Here, we bring you the best of the best. These are the wines that our producers have loved so dearly that they've kept a few behind at the cellar for their future selves (and, some lucky customers who might get the winemakers on a good day). We've had to do some really sweet talking, a little bit of begging, and a lot of string-pulling to curate this case. Presenting: the Aged. Shiraz. Selection. It feels good to say it, and even better to drink it.

Included in this case:

1x Clarendon Hills Piggott Range Shiraz 2013

Red — Shiraz

McLaren Vale — Australia

Robert Parker described this wine as "outstanding" and it is easy to see why - deep and dense, full-bodied and exuding elegance, here you'll find the best qualities of McLaren Vale shiraz on full display and better yet, the hard yards of cellaring the wine has been done for you, leaving you with the best job, popping the cork and enjoying. This really is a candidate to buy up and enjoy as the wine enters a beautiful drinking window where it will remain for years to come. Elevate your next dinner party or special occasion with a wine that will be remembered long past that Sunday roast or family barbecue and have your guests begging you to open another one.

You’d pay $350 full price.

1x Hutton Vale Farm Shiraz 2014

Red — Shiraz

Eden Valley — Australia

These vines are sandwiched directly between the Mt Edelstone and Hill of Grace vineyards, it's not surprise it's one of Barossa's genuine icons. Dense, dark-fruited, rich and complex, this is aged Australian wine in its purest form. Fantastic wine.
This isn't a wine that has sat in the cellar in the hope of turning into something special. Museum releases are a bit different. This was built to age, stored professionally, cared for and diligently tasted along its journey until the optimum time for release, and that brings us to now. Plummy and spicy on the nose with herbal undertones and hints of pepper. The palate is completely indulgent; rich, concentrated red and black fruits, a slight earthiness (typical of the vineyard) and bright white pepper complimented by cedary oak and mouth-coating tannins that linger through the long, spiced plum, Christmas cake-like finish. Iconic vines, iconic winemaker, iconic wine.

You’d pay $135 full price.

1x Dog Ridge Original Plantings Shiraz 2016

Red — Shiraz

McLaren Vale — Australia

Aged McLaren Vale shiraz from vines planted way back in the 1940s. This is truly one for those who love matured Aussie reds. Developed, soft, plush and utterly delicious.
McLaren Vale people take their old vines very seriously, and with good reason, the concentration and regionality of the fruit off of these vineyards goes unrivalled in McV and, in short, allows the winemaker to create whatever style of wine they want. Turns out the winemaker in question here decided to make an absolute belter! Notes of leather, tobacco and spice are really starting to poke through a base of plush plummy fruit and dark chocolate. Fine, chalky tannins build on natural acid to create an extremely long finish and hold this bad boy in good stead for the future, if that's your thing.

You’d pay $85 full price.

1x Kyara Bush Lawyer Shiraz 2013

Red — Shiraz

Eden Valley — Australia

Intense and inky. Soft and smooth. All you could ask for in a museum release Barossa shiraz. This gorgeous wine spent over 10 years in the cellar, developing patiently and waiting for its time to shine. Well, the wait is over, the time is now, this wine is about to take centre stage! Intense liquorice, spicy mocha, blackberry and oak-driven vanilla notes - and that's just the nose. The aging process has instilled a complexity and elegance that's evident in this wine right from the outset and carries through the palate. Beautifully textured, with velvet-like tannins and rich black fruits, there's no shortage of flavour from start to (long long long) finish. Barossa shiraz is famous the world over for it's potential to age, well there's nothing 'potential' about this drop. Tried and tasted, this wine shows us exactly why people all over the globe are lining up for the good stuff.

You’d pay $70 full price.

1x Five Geese Jon's Block Reserve Shiraz 2015

Red — Shiraz

McLaren Vale — Australia

There's a reason this wine has a 4.0 Vivino average. This 9 year old Reserve made from 50 year old vines is full-bodied, smooth, spicy and peppery, long-lasting and refined. Blewitt Springs is the northern region of McLaren Vale and is home to some of the oldest vines in the Vale. This Reserve level shiraz sourced from 50y.o. vines spent 24 months in 25% new French oak. The result is a silky darkly fruited delight that is both vibrant and deep, spiced and rich with a long lingering finish.

You’d pay $55 full price.
