We have to say, this one was a hard pack to pull together. Mostly because we kept drinking all of the cellar reserve cabernets ourselves, or couldn’t keep them in stock long enough to bring a pack together.

Why do we love this case?

The point is mofo, we got there. We all know aged cabernet can be one of those unicorns, hard to find, but priceless when you do. Our producers have done the cellaring for you, so now all that’s left to do is crack these babies open (although we suggest giving them some airing time before diving in).

Included in this case:

1x Magarey Lane Glenroy Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Red — Cabernet Sauvignon

Coonawarra — Australia

Classic Coonawarra - cassis, blackcurrant and dark plums rule the fruit profile whilst the regional characters of eucalypt and allspice pick up the slack. As soon as this wine hits the glass, it's unmistakably Coonawarra, unashamedly bold and unsurprisingly vibrant. 18 months in a mix of French and American barrels brings a complexity to the oak profile and fullness that will leave this wine in seriously good nick for as long your patience lasts.

You’d pay $120 full price.

1x Hutton Vale Farm Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Red — Cabernet Sauvignon

Eden Valley — Australia

Hutton Vale Farm truly are one of the most recognisable and reputable names in the Barossa region. This stunning aged cabernet epitomises their 'house-style' and, to be honest, feels like they're just showing off a bit. Ned Goodwin MW said for Halliday Wine Companion, "This is a rich wine of minty lift and oaky seams... chocolate, ample berry fruit flavours, coffee bean and eucalyptus notes.", yep, that's a cabernet alright! With a few years of age the leafy, minty notes have seamlessly integrated with the (40% new) French oak and created an exceptional, mouth-filling wine with tremendous length. With a 4.2 Vivino rating tells you all you need to know; pristine and punter-friendly!

You’d pay $120 full price.

1x Jim Brand Wines The Pursuit 'Museum Release' Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Red — Cabernet Sauvignon

Coonawarra — Australia

Perfection - we expect no less from this standout producer. An iconic name of Coonawarra, and a wine to follow suit. 8 years under the belt has this beauty primed and raring to go.
Whenever we have this producer at the tasting bench, you can be sure there's a few of us salivating over the wines. This cabernet is always an absolute standout, and we all nod in agreement that this has to be one of the best value cabernets we've ever sold. Ever. An extroverted red which refuses to back down, this wine is fragrant with dark forest fruits seducing the nose, while traces of mint and cedar oak add a twist of regional character. A torrent of ripe plum, dark berry and blackcurrant make their presence known on the palate -  clearly dominating but steering clear of overwhelming the tastebuds. The finish is superb with great length and a dry finale. An outstanding example of how to balance power with restraint, and succeed - this magnificent cab shows others how it’s done.

You’d pay $80 full price.

1x Atticus Premium Museum Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

Red — Cabernet Sauvignon

Margaret River — Australia

Elegance exemplified. With just over 10 years in the rear-view mirror, this beautiful cabernet has found itself right in the 'goldilocks zone', not too young, not too old, juuuuust right.
Margaret River rarely has a challenging vintage but the 2013 stands among the best of the last 15 years. Beautifully balanced, wonderfully vibrant and patiently matured, this is a really special drop. Both the bouquet and the palate are chocker-block-full of cassis, blackberry, bay leaf and countless other herbs. Fine-grained tannins and a vibrant acidic structure close out proceedings and push through for a lingering finish with discernible hints of sweet oak. A classy wine with a beautiful mouthfeel and exemplary fruit concentration. You won't be disappointed.

You’d pay $70 full price.

1x Reschke RSR Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

Red — Cabernet Sauvignon

Coonawarra — Australia

We’ve now seen many a ripper vintage of this baby. It’s one deal that flies out the door and into your kitchen. For those in the know, you're never disappointed once you pull the cork. A cellar release with a lucky 8 years of evolution - give it a burl, and you’ll see that it is only starting to touch its prime drinking window. Usually exclusive to the wine producer’s database, this trickles out to us only when we are lucky, somehow our charming wine buyers have managed to get on that lucky list.

Boisterous tannins that have mellowed to a brooding, silky palate, with chunky fruit joined by herbaceous and somewhat meaty notes. There’s still classic cabernet cassis and blackberry, which is accompanied by rosemary, thyme and a long and savoury finish. Be quick, mofo - you too should be so lucky!

You’d pay $75 full price.

1x Hollick Old Vines Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

Red — Cabernet Sauvignon

Coonawarra — Australia

When it comes to cabernet, we’re happy to drop some buzzwords - Coonawarra, old vine, terra rossa, French oak. Coonawarra is arguably Australia’s greatest cabernet region. Old vines make for concentrated flavours from lower yields. Terra rossa refers to the red soil of Coonawarra that gives its wines their distinct dusty, earthy characteristic. French oak provides that perfect cedary backbone that holds together the fruit profile of cab sav so well. So expect blackcurrant, plum, spice and chocolate on the palate carried forth into an elegant finish with fine lingering tannins. We might have gone a bit heavy on the buzzwords here, but they exist for a reason.

You’d pay $40 full price.
