Why do we love this case?
This is the summit, mofo. The ‘Best in Class’ of the wine world. Wines beloved by the experts and novices alike. The wines that turned even the haughtiest of critics into star-struck fanpeople who mysteriously ‘forget to spit it out’ during a high-brow tasting panel. The concept behind this pack is pretty simple; there’s only one condition to entry - a 97 point or higher award. The vast majority need not apply. We already separate the wheat from the chaff here at the ‘fo. This is the artisan stonebaked masterwork that results.
1x Hewitson Strawberry Hill Shiraz 2021
Red — Shiraz
Barossa Valley — Australia
Gee this winery is popular with our mofo members. From quaffers all the way to super premiums like this one, y’all can’t seem to get enough, and for good reason. This wine will exceed your expectations; with layers of flavourful complexity, you’ll discover something new with every sip.
Still in its youth (from the brilliant 2021 vintage) the wine opens with an array of forest fruits of blackcurrant, blackberry and ripened plums. Non fruit characteristics are already shining through, especially over the palate where you’ll be treated to notes of dark chocolate, fresh coffee bean and dustings of cacao. The tannins are fine grained. The length on the finish just keeps going and the 15 months this shiraz spent in french oak prior to bottling ensures you can cellar this and revel in its maturity for years to come.
You’d pay $150 full price.

Tasting Notes
1x Curtis Martin's Vineyard Shiraz 2020
Red — Shiraz
McLaren Vale — Australia
A special series wine from a prominent McLaren Vale winery isn’t something that’s easy to get our hands on. And we mean, sometimes this stuff can’t even be picked up when you bang on the doors of wineries themselves. So, safe to say we were jumping for joy to land this beauty from Curtis. Intensely dense, which sounds just as smooth as it drinks. Heightened aromas of blackcurrant and black cherries waft enticingly from the decanter, which help to open this to its full potential. The oak influence is superbly balanced, helping to lift the marked quality of the fruit and give this beauty the longevity it deserves. Sometimes you say we spoil you mofos, and we’re starting to think that you’re right.
You’d pay $150 full price.

1x B by Fonbadet Bordeaux AOC 2019
Red — Cabernet Blend
Bordeaux — France
When you start getting insanely high Decanter scores (97pts!) and enough gold to satisfy even the most bling-obsessed person you know, then you’d assume you’re dealing with some incredibly expensive Bordeaux. Guess you’d be wrong in this instance. Not on the quality of course, but on the price. This might be our best Bordeaux deal ever. We don’t need to go into too much detail on the wine. We’ll let the Decanter review below do the heavy lifting. We’ll just say ‘ditto’ to that.
You’d pay $45 full price.

1x Watkins Cellar Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2016
Red — Cabernet Sauvignon
South Australia — Australia
These producers might be a new name to some, but their time in the industry goes way back. As evidenced by this cellar selection, they’ve honed the art of crafting wines that stand the test of time. This is an all-family affair, with the new generation stepping in to take the reigns. They’re finally releasing some beauties from their back vintages, and we were quick to jump in and bring our mofos that aged goodness. Cabernet off their currency creek vineyards gave this wine the confidence to see it through the last 6 years, with more still to come. This is the kind of wine that greets you like an old friend. Instantly familiar and merry, sure to entertain you for hours.
You’d pay $35 full price.

1x La Bollina Corte Medicea Erastos 2019
Red — Red Blend
Tuscany — Italy
When the Tuscan winemakers decided to blend in cabernet and merlot with their sangiovese, minds were blown and the Supertuscan was born. Sounds like a superhero origin story, I know. But it’s really the tale of a very traditional wine region doing something entirely unconventional. And it worked a charm. This one is half sangio and a quarter each cab and merlot. It’s given six months in older oak to build structure yet still let the fruit sing. Look for cherries, raspberries, chocolate and a touch of vanillin. And at this price with a 98 point review, this is a Supertuscan at a super deal!
You’d pay $35 full price.

1x Lornano Chianti Classico DOCG 2019
Red — Sangiovese
Tuscany — Italy
It’s back for another ripper vintage! Chianti for the New World wine-lover. Bold and supple, with heaps of saucy black cherry action. The acid’s there; that common theme in pretty much all Italians that guarantees food-friendliness. Dusty cypress-lined gravel path tannins give just the right hint of the rustic, without taking away from the class and poise of what is a cracking vino. It already has one 97 point review and I’m sure there’s a few more accolades on the way.
You’d pay $50 full price.
