Feeling peckish with your rizza? When it comes to riesling, there are a few great snack pairing options that are sure to make your taste buds sing.

Cream cheese and crudités

Soft cheeses (we’re talking chèvre, or your classic cream cheese), are a great pairing with riesling. Serve up with some fresh veg crudités (stick to more neutral in flavour, like cucumber and carrot), and you’ll be laughing. The wine's acidity helps to balance out the creaminess of the cheese, and the neutral veg dipping vessels will mean you’re getting the most of the fruits and aromatics from the wine.

Thai fishcakes with a sweet chilli sauce

It’s no secret that riesling and classic Thai are a great match, so go on - break out the spicy Thai-style fishcakes. The fresh herbs and fiery flavours of the fishcakes will complement the floral and citrus fruit notes in riesling, plus any residual sweetness from the wine will help tame the spice.

Salt & vinegar chips

The tangy kick of a good old bag of salt and vinegar potato chips pairs beautifully with riesling's high acidity, creating a lip-smacking combo. The salt will emphasise the sweetness of the wine; plus, with its citrus notes the wine enhances the tanginess of the chips, while cleansing your palate between bites.

Smoked salmon

Skip charcuterie and instead lay out some smoked salmon with crisp rye bread. The richness and smokiness of the fish goes hand-in-hand with riesling's crisp acidity and minerality. And with its citrus notes, the wine complements the salmon's flavour, while cutting through the fattiness of the fish.

Spicy popcorn

Chardonnay and popcorn is a known winner, though reach for riesling if your popcorn is packing a little heat. With its relative sweetness and acidity, riesling balances out the heat of the spices and refreshes your palate between bites.

Chicken nuggets

Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it. The crispy, salty exterior of a classic chicken nugg is a match made in heaven with the acidity and bright citrus of riesling
