Want to be in the know when it comes to BYO? No problem, ‘fo. We’ve prepared a run down of our top spots in Adelaide with a BYO option (corkage applies) for when you’re looking to break out that special bottle. 

Here’s our current top five (in no particular order). We’ve also included our picks from the menu and what we’d be taking too - but as always, it’s a you-do-you kind of thing. Let’s get into it.

Noi Vietnamese Eatery

Split between small and larger plates, Noi Vietnamese’s menu manages to tread the balance between traditional, modern, local and international perfectly. With wok-tossed pippis rubbing shoulders with fragrant fried barramundi, it’s Adelaide fare viewed through the lens of Vietnam. Or maybe it’s the other way around? The light, chic modernist building and interior fit makes it perfect for a get together with a mate or a date. Open 7 days a week for dinner.

What we order: Twice cooked pork belly, chilli crab noodles

Parwana

Bright and relaxed, we love this place so much we go there to celebrate Mofomas (it’s like an EOY party, but maybe with more BYO vino). Specialising in Afghani cuisine, the ethos is about traditional full-of-flavour-food served in a warm, welcoming atmosphere. A menu that’ll make you feel like you’ve already gone to heaven, the BYO corkage here also goes towards programmes feeding the homeless (so you can expect that sainthood to be waiting when you arrive). Open for lunch or dinner.

What we order: Kabuli Palaw (long-grain rice, topped with caramelised carrots, sultanas, slivered almonds and pistachios), Karayee Gosfand (Grilled Lamb)

What we're taking: Sauvignon Blanc or Grenache

Topiary

Topiary aims to tell the story of the ingredients they source from their surrounds in Adelaide, with a zero-waste philosophy where everything is made from scratch. The menu is perfect to share, so take a friend or a loved one and dine down on what makes modern Australian cooking so great; sustainably caught local fish, roo tartare, locally foraged leaves and also a separate full plant-based harvest menu. It sails the “c”s; cool, contemporary, considered, a new classic. Open for lunch 7 days a week and dinner on Friday nights.

What we order: Torched fish carpaccio, apple, pickled fennel, cultured buttermilk

Peel St

Peel St’s mantra of “fresh, simple, delicious” is one for us - what’s not to like about that? With a seasonally rotating menu showcasing what’s live & local (with an Asian fusion spin), expect to see what’s best to eat in Adelaide at any time of year. 

What we order: Grilled Octopus w. skordalia, fennel jam, black olives

What we're taking: Tempranillo or Sangiovese

T-Chow

An Adelaide institution, we’ve found our feet under the table here many a time as we’ve t-chowed our way through the menu. A Chinatown staple, it’s open for lunch or dinner Monday through Sunday, with an extensive menu of authentic dim sum, meat, rice, noodle and vegetarian dishes. Just go, thank us for it later.

What we order: Prawn and pork dumplings, Peking duck

What we're taking: Riesling or Merlot
